  • SWC

Jose completed his undergraduate and graduate studies at UCLA and earned a Master's in Social Welfare (MSW) before coming to CAPS. Jose has experience in both school and community-based settings, supporting students and young adults in overcoming various social-emotional difficulties, primarily chemical dependency, anxiety, depression and trauma.

Jose believes each individual is an expert in their own life, and his approach to therapy is collaborative and relational, taking into account each person's unique environmental and developmental experiences. Jose encourages students to approach therapy with genuine curiosity and openness to self-discovery as goals are explored for wellness, and steps and strategies are identified to approach life’s inevitable struggles with greater ease and confidence. Through a collaborative therapeutic space, Jose seeks to help clients understand their psyche in relation to the larger environment within a multicultural perspective. Ultimately, he hopes to facilitate a greater sense of agency, peace and fulfillment for his clients.
